START Program Specialist Dr. Mariama Camara was featured as a guest on the Green Growth program of Medi1TV Afrique in Dakar on September 18, as part of ongoing outreach efforts with West African organizations working on environment and renewable energy. The program discussed themes of waste management, circular and green economies, as well as the capacity strengthening work of START’s ProGREEN project in Burkina Faso and Senegal. During the conversation, Dr. Camara highlighted the important role of local communities in the green economy, with a strong emphasis on recycling waste, particularly organic waste, which may be used in the bioenergy and agricultural sectors. The importance of gender equity in renewable energy programming was also emphasized during the segment.
