Seedbeds of Transformation conference: the role of science with society and the SDGs in Africa
March 13, 2018

Together with Future Earth, the South African Department of Science and Technology, and the National Research Foundation of South Africa, START is pleased to announce Seedbeds of Transformation: the role of science with society and the SDGs in Africa. The conference will take place from 9 to 11 May 2018 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

The Seedbeds conference will provide a collaborative, transdisciplinary space for people with diverse perspectives to explore transformations and the SDGs in Africa. The discussions will be structured around three themes: understanding trajectories of change, traversing critical challenges, and creating momentum.

The conference will explore potential tradeoffs and synergies associated with the SDGs in different contexts across Africa, and will identify opportunities to build on relevant action and research initiatives to advance SDG implementation efforts. The conference will produce a statement of priority actions that will be taken forward to the UN High Level Political Forum as well as regional-level platforms on the SDGs in Africa. The conference will also lay the groundwork for developing new, and advancing existing, partnerships for science in support of the SDGs in Africa.

Registration closes on April 20: https://seedbeds.futureearth.org/registration/
