Digital Belt & Road program, climate change and disaster risks

During the launch ceremony of the Future Earth Mongolia Committee, Professor Gensuo Jia, Director of the Temperate East Asia Regional Center (TEA-START), gave a lecture on the Digital Belt & Road program, with a focus on climate change and disaster risks. 

Professor Jia introduced the mission and recent developments of the Digital Belt & Road science program, in which he serves as science committee member and environment working group co-chair. He also reviewed current scientific knowledge of climate change, extreme weather events, and disaster risks in the region.

During the discussions, Professor Jia called for joint efforts from Mongolian colleagues, and encouraged young scientists and students to join the capacity building programs offered by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and START.

The launch of Future Earth Mongolia took place in Ulaanbaatar on June 8, 2018.
