In May, START convened regional meetings for the UNI-LEAD (LDC University Leadership for Catalyzing Climate Adaptation Finance) project related to identifying how universities can contribute to increasing access to climate finance by LDC governments. The West Africa regional meeting involved universities and UNFCCC and Green Climate Fund national focal points from Senegal, Burkina Faso, Liberia, and The Gambia. The combined East and Southern Africa regional meeting engaged university and government counterparts from Uganda, Mozambique, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Malawi. The purpose of the workshops was for university and government officials to co-create a roadmap for collaboration on strengthening capacities for climate finance.
