GOFC-GOLD and START invite you to participate in the forthcoming Joint Mediterranean Regional Information Network (MedRIN) and South Central and Eastern European Regional Information Network (SCERIN) Capacity Building Workshop (Joint M&S CBW). The Joint M&S CBW will be held virtually June 15-17 (Tuesday – Thursday), 2021.

The workshop will focus on: Ecosystem health, drought, and wildfires in the context of climate change. The goals of the workshop are:
1) to inform about ongoing major scientific efforts and projects within the SCERIN and MedRIN countries, and seek joint contribution in follow-up activities by the participants;
2) advance the ongoing activities of the networks focus groups;
3) foster new ideas for joint SCERIN and MedRIN projects and publications; and
4) plan the future work of the Regional Information Networks.
The opening plenary is planned for June 15, 2021. The workshop will offer opportunities for the participants to showcase their research (e.g., virtual Pre-recorded (PR) research talks, abstract <200 words, 5 minutes), discuss topics of joint interest and regional importance (e.g., Country surveys, flash talks by country, 3-5 min. each, on June 16), and foster collaborations with experts and colleagues from the region. We invite your contributions to the PR research talks and Country surveys, to inform on the remote sensing hot topics in SCERIN and MedRIN.

The Joint CBW is organised by the coordinators of SCERIN (J. Albrechtova, L. Kupková and P. Campbell) and MedRIN (I. Gitas, D. Hadjimitsis, V. Ambrosia and I. Manakos), and will be hosted virtually by START (Jon Padgham and Clay Oboth). The CBW is coordinated with a Trans-Atlantic Training (TAT, https://tat.web.auth.gr/) June 1-4 2021, for students and young professionals, which is organised by P. Štych, F. Sarti, G. Gutman and A. Mouratidis. Please do not hesitate to email with questions and suggestions.
