Earthscan-published Paper stems from AIACC project
August 4th, 2009

Earthscan’s ‘Climate and Development’ Journal recently published a paper arising from work in the Assessment of Impacts and Adaptation to Climate Change (AIACC) project. AIACC was implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and executed jointly by START and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) to advance scientific understanding of climate change vulnerabilities and adaptation options in developing countries. Earthscan’s ‘Climate and Development’ Journal is a leading international, peer-reviewed journal on understanding of the links between climate and development, which publishes this paper in its 2009 Volume 1, Number 2 edition. The paper, titled “Mainstreaming adaptation in developing countries: The case of the Philippines,” focuses on the Philippines, “an archipelago and a developing country, [that is] very vulnerable to climate change.” The abstract explains, “The first part of this paper reviews current knowledge on mainstreaming climate change adaptation into development. It then assesses how far climate change has been mainstreamed into key development plans and programmes in the Philippines.” Authors, Rodel D. Lasco, Florencia B. Pulhin, Patricia Ann Jaranilla-Sanchez, Rafaela Jane P. Delfino, Robert Gerpacio and Kristine Garcia acknowledge the support of START and UNEP through the AIACC project and also attributes gratitude to the Tropical Forests and Climate Change Adaptation (TroFCCA) project and the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN).
