An Update from the Global Environmental Change Research in Africa Program

Global Environmental Change Research in Africa’s project: Management of Ecosystems Services of the Forests of Southwest Nigeria in Support of Rural Livelihoods and Food Security held an inception workshop on 26 December 2011. The objectives, methods and expected outputs of the study were shared, and input from workshop participants was noted and will be incorporated into project implementation. Participants at the workshop included experts and representatives within the Federal University of Technology, state Forestry Departments, community members, student researchers, research and field assistants, and field enumerators.

A follow-up workshop will take place at the end of the project to discuss research findings and recommendations for policy-makers.
