The third regional REDD+ Monitoring and Measurement, Reporting and Verification “Training the Trainers” workshop took place during 19-23 September 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This was the third of four regional one-week “Training the Trainers” workshops, which are taking place across three continents: one in South-East Asia (in English), one in Latin America (in Spanish), and two in Africa (in French and English). A select group of approximately 35 participants from countries in each region (2-3 participants per country) attend the trainings with the aim of further disseminating the knowledge and insights gained and to train others who are involved in REDD+ monitoring and reporting in their countries. The workshops are jointly organized by partners from the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) and Global Observation of Forest Cover and Land Dynamics (GOFC-GOLD), with overall coordination by Wageningen University. As part of the GOFC-GOLD partnership, START supported the training by facilitating the participation of two GOFC-GOLD Networks from Africa—the West Africa Regional Network (WARN) and the Miombo Land Use Land Change Network—in this important training.
